Resumen

La resistencia antimicrobiana (RAM) representa una amenaza global que compromete la eficacia terapéutica y la salud pública. Ante la disminución de nuevos antibióticos eficaces, la nanotecnología emerge como una alternativa prometedora para contrarrestar este fenómeno. El presente trabajo analiza los avances recientes en el uso de nanomateriales con propiedades antimicrobianas inherentes o como vehículos de liberación dirigida, destacando su capacidad para superar mecanismos de resistencia como bombas de eflujo, biopelículas y degradación enzimática. Asimismo, se abordan los principales retos asociados a su aplicación clínica, incluyendo la toxicidad, la producción a gran escala y las limitaciones regulatorias. Finalmente, se discuten las perspectivas futuras orientadas al diseño racional de nanomateriales más seguros y selectivos, así como su integración con terapias combinadas y herramientas de biología sintética. Estos enfoques multidisciplinarios podrían redefinir las estrategias terapéuticas frente a bacterias multirresistentes.
